Library Policy
  1. The HCCC Library caters only to bona fide students, faculty, and staff of Holy Cross College of Calinan.
  2. Basic Education students, as well as College and High School alumni, may access the library collections upon presentation of their alumni identification card. However, borrowing of library materials is not allowed for these users.
Library Policies for Faculty and Staff
  1. Teachers and staff must log in to the entrance monitoring system or scan their ID upon entering the library.
  2. A Borrower’s Card is issued to all faculty and staff of HCCC who wish to borrow books. They are responsible for all materials issued under their card.
  3. A faculty member who leaves the school for an entire semester or goes on leave of absence is required to return all borrowed library materials before leaving.
  4. Library-Use-Only Materials
  5. The following materials are for library use only:

    1. General reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, etc.
    2. Magazines, newspapers, clippings, pamphlets, and CliffsNotes.
    3. Bound periodicals and back issues of newspapers and magazines.
    4. Term papers, which are reserved for individuals engaged in research.
  6. Prohibited Practices in the Library
    1. Do not fold pages as markers or insert bulky materials inside books.
    2. Do not use pencils or ball pens as bookmarks.
    3. Single-copy books may not be loaned out.
  7. Faculty members may borrow library materials for the normal loan period of one academic term, subject to recall when needed.
  8. Lost or damaged books must be replaced with the same title and most recent copyright edition, or paid for according to the current market price.
  9. Renewals
    1. Borrowed items may be renewed for one month.
    2. Renewals may be made by bringing the borrowed books to the library.
  10. All borrowed books must be returned on or before the due date or at the end of the term.
  11. A reminder will be sent to any faculty or staff member who fails to renew or return borrowed books on the due date.
  12. Expiration of Borrowing Privileges
    1. Full-time faculty members and staff separating from HCCC employment, even temporarily, must return all library materials.
    2. Borrowing privileges terminate upon separation from HCCC.
  13. 12. Reservations must be made one to two days before the scheduled date. No class may use the library without a prior reservation.
Library Rules for Students
  1. Students are requested to deposit their personal belongings at the depository counter upon entering the library. Library personnel and student aides on duty do not hold responsibility for valuables such as wallets, calculators, cell phones, etc. These items should not be deposited at the counter.
  2. Observance of silence is the primary rule of the library. Idle conversation, loud laughter, dragging of chairs, and other unnecessary noise are prohibited. Students who violate this rule may be suspended from using the library. The duration of the suspension will depend on the offense committed. A warning will be issued for first-time violations.
  3. Studying in groups is not allowed in the library.
  4. Maintaining cleanliness and order in the library is the responsibility of all students. Students are expected to return materials to their proper places after use and dispose of waste materials in the provided wastebaskets.
  5. The following activities are not allowed inside the library:
    • Eating or drinking
    • Chewing gum
    • Playing
    • Smoking
    • Doing industrial or manual work
  6. Students must wear the complete school uniform during school days. On Wednesdays, the activity T-shirt is allowed; on Saturdays, the P.E. or activity T-shirt is permitted. Students wearing jogging pants, shorts, or slippers are not allowed to enter the library.
  7. 7. Students must handle books and other materials with care, as they serve many users. The following rules apply:
    1. Remove books from shelves carefully without tearing covers.
    2. Open pages properly to avoid crumpling.
    3. Protect books from inclement weather.
    4. Do not fold pages as markers or insert bulky materials between pages.
    5. Use pencils and pens carefully to avoid marks on books or tables.
    6. Misbehavior such as hiding, stealing, tearing books, or showing disrespect toward library authorities will be investigated and punished according to the offense.
  8. 8. Students must check out at least 15 minutes before closing time for inspection.

As an academic support unit, the Library strives to be a center for information and knowledge where sufficient information resources are made available. As the learning center and academic support system of HCCC, it aspires to provide exemplary services and material resources that promote and enhance the teaching-learning process.

Mission of the College Library

The HCCC College Library provides information resources and services to faculty, students, researchers and administrative staff in developing information literacy for lifelong learning skills. It provides print, non-print materials, electronic access, and quality library information services, responsive to the needs of the times that would answer the instructional and informational needs the academic community.
